REVIEW // Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

A blogger favourite for a while now, Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation is fast becoming a cult product. It's a high end, medium/build-able coverage foundation available in a great colour range. I tried it for the first time a while ago, and now I can't get enough of the stuff! Here's my review of my new favourite go-to foundation of the Summer!

I decided to try this foundation after hearing a lot of hype about it earlier in the year, in the hope that the price (!) would mean I was going to get more than the usual wear, quality & blend-ability compared to high street foundations. It didn't disappoint me! The foundation is £37 and available at Debenhams, Fenwick, House of Fraser and the like, at the Giorgio Armani concession stand.

Before use, it's recommended that you give the bottle a good shake (but I guess we should be doing that with all liquid foundations really?). Luckily, it has a great pump rather than a dropper or being completely open! (I always end up using way too much with open top foundations...)

The pump dispenses a good amount of product, and I found one full press of the pump was definitely enough for one full face, medium-coverage layer. I usually apply it with a beauty blender, but I think a good foundation brush works great to! although you need to put in a little more work to blend out a few bristle strokes with it being such a light consistency product. The application is really effortless, as the consistency is so fluid, meaning blending is almost effortless no matter what method you use!

One layer with some light translucent powder.

The foundation is very lightweight, but definitely has a good kick of coverage for being so! The finish is not overly dewy, but definitely gives a gorgeous 'from within' glow that lasts nicely throughout the day, even after a light setting with powder. I was worried that using a foundation labelled 'luminous' would encourage the oilier areas of my face, but it actually balanced those areas - around my nose and forehead - a lot more than I expected throughout the day!

I wouldn't expect any product to be without it's downside(s), but this stuff is definitely close to perfect! However, I'd be lying to you if I didn't note a couple of things;
+ I'm not sure really oily skin would get on very well at all with this foundation. It's nowhere near as dewy as some others with the same claim, but it definitely allows oils to blend in throughout the day. My skin is dry to combination and it sits right on the border of 'too much' and 'just enough' oiliness after 8 hours of wear.
+ I tried the foundation in the shade number 3, and although there is a great range of shades available, shade 3 is a little on the yellow side which is definitely something to bear in mind when you're considering buying this.

Luminous silk is a reliable and consistent luxe product that is worth the splurge for sure. Be sure to take a look at the shades in person before buying, but otherwise you can;t go wrong with this one! Love it!

Have you tried this foundation? Are you considering it? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Life Lessons I Learned from My Dog

I think we could all learn something from dogs. They're completely loyal, sweet awesome creatures - it's no coincidence that they are mans best friend! They can teach us so much if we let them. Here's a list of really important life lessons I have learned from my dog Hutch since adopting him this time last year. I also made a cute video dedicated to him which you can watch here if you fancy!

1. To appreciate small pleasures in life - it makes his day to play with a ball or get a treat. I know he doesn't have the brain power humans have, but there's definitely something to be learned from appreciating the little things that make your day a happier one!

2. To live in the moment - He can scrap with a dog and be playing with it happily within 5 minutes, but also the fact that he was left at a dog kennel after his owner died. This could be a real negative turning point in a human life, but Hutch took it in his stride and waited patiently for his new Mummy and Daddy to arrive! He takes every day as it comes and doesn't let anything insignificant bother him.

3. To love unconditionally - He loves me, literally no matter what! There was one time, we forgot to take him for a poo and he had to hold it in all afternoon and night but wasn't the least bit angry with us. He loves us for loving him... and would probably still love us even if we didn't!

4. To be completely nonjudgmental - He is friendly to anyone and everyone, no matter who they are; girl or boy, tall or short, fat or thin. He sees energy and intention when he meets someone new, not clothes or make up.

5. To stand up for yourself, without being a bully - He takes no shit from bigger, excitable dogs! Sometimes we come across big, boisterous dogs in the park and he has no qualms about putting them in their place if they annoy him. He doesn't let anyone or any dog take it to far before letting them know he's unhappy. He never fights, but he regularly gives a warning snarl to any dog that is pushing his buttons!

6. To be respectful - he knows when not to pester or disturb you, but he also knows when you need a cuddle and a little attention!

7. To be loyal - Hutch loves meeting new people and going to new places, but he is so loyal to me and would protect me from anything if he ever needed to!

I have been a massive dog lover for years now, and I am fascinated by their behavior and pschology. They are such naturally caring, bright animals and I am in awe of how much they inspire me. It sounds so corny, but Hutch really is my best friend!

Let me know if you feel like you've learned any life lessons from your pets in the comments - I'd love to have a chat about it!

So, KIKO has been a well known brand for a long time now, and I've been meaning to try it for a couple of years but never really...well, never really got around to it!
I've seen a lot of mentions of it on YouTube especially, with a lot of KIKO products appearing in monthly favourites etc., and the overwhelming majority of YouTubers seem to love the brand for being such great quality for a really reasonable price point! A few weeks ago I visited the KIKO shop in Newcastle and decided to see what all the fuss was about!

DOUBLE DARE Eyeshadow & Eyeliner - 01
I'd been eyeing up a couple of things online in their sale, but the minimum spend for online ordering was £25. As I hadn't tried the brand before, I didn't want to commit to buying so much (I would have got a LOT in the sale for £25 - they REALLY drop the prices!), so I decided to stop by the store and have a sniff around in person...

Before going into my opinion on the products, I just wanted to mention that during the initial visit, and all subsequent visits since, the staff have been so lovely! Not at all pressuring and really helpful if I ever I had anything to ask!

FALSE LASHES CONCENTRATE Volume & Definition Top Coat Mascara - Black
I tried a few different things during my first trip and came home with some sale mascara (WHICH I LOVE!) and an orange powder eyeshadow to try. Since then I have been back and bought quite a bit more from the sale and can honestly say I love and use every single thing!

IN THE SHADE Eyeshadow & Kajal - 01
The double-eyeshadow stick is my most recent purchase, and I love it! The darker mauve cream stick eyeshadow glides on beautiful and only took a couple of finger dabs to blend out to perfection! The other end is meant to be an eyeliner (or waterliner) but I used this on the inner corner and it was beautiful.

BLENDING WAVE Multicolour Blush - 02
I think my favourite product to date though is the blush! It's a two-in-one (if you want to use both shades separately) but swished together they are beautiful! I've never had a more perfectly matched blusher for my skin tone and dryness - it's just amazing! Not at all chalky and really easily controllable when you apply!

Let me know in the comments below if you've tried KIKO, what you tried and what you think of it!
Thanks for reading!
