autumn home updates

I’m happy to say that this post is sponsored by one of my fave online interiors sites – wayfair.co.uk!

autumn home updates

Well guys, it’s September, and the weather has well and truly taken its annual nose drive straight into Autumn. I do love the sun, and the light nights of Summer, but I am definitely an Autumn lover at heart! For me, there’s nothing more satisfying then coming home out of the cold wind and rain, to sit by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate in fluffy pjs, or listening to the rain from your bedroom window, all while being wrapped up warm and cosy in bed! I’m excited just writing about it!

So with all this in mind, I decided that our house needed a little Autumn makeover! There’s a lot of bright white and plain surfaces in our living room and bedroom at the moment, and I felt both rooms could do with more textures, and deeper richer colours from a few key pieces, to make these rooms more inviting and to encourage me to spend more time in them both! Below is a short review of the pieces I picked from wayfair.co.uk, and a few shots, showing them all in situ in my home!

Diamond Weave Throw

Who could decorate for the colder months without finding cosy throw?! I chose the black and cream throw, but they are available in a few colour combinations! I love throws like this for adding extra layers and textures to our bed – the less styling the better too! It looks great just thrown over the bottom of the bed. Great for taking a midday nap with, when you’d feeling a little too guilty getting under the duvet! It’s 150cm L x 125cm W, and is 100% cotton – perfecto!

Artificial Palm Tree

It’ll come as no surprise to my regular readers that I am absolutely obsessed with house plants; and I’m actually not too bad at keeping them alive! However, in the colder months it does get a lot harder to give them the sunshine exposure they need to look as good as they do in the Summer! Artificial plants are great those areas of the home that need sprucing up a little, but don’t get much light. There are, admittedly, lots of badly done artificals out there, but I am so impressed with how real this one looks! I was also really impressed with the height of the plant – at 120cm, it fills the high ceiling of our town house really well! It would also make a great floor plant for newer homes with lower ceilings!

Meridian Velvet Cushion Cover

This cover is my new fave! The velvet is SO luxurious, and at 50x50cm, it’s a little bigger than what I’d consider ‘the average’ cushion, and feels super fancy! When added to our bed, it gave it a luxury hotel feel, and I am definitely not mad at that! This is also available in a number of shade combinations, and if I’m quite honest, I’m tempted to buy the whole range! Everyone loves cushions, right?!

Industrial Coffee Table

We’ve been in need of a coffee table for months now. We have such a long & narrow living room that it’s hard to find something that compliments the rooms proportions. So when I found this beauty on Wayfair.co.uk, I knew it was going to be perfect. The table top is a beautiful mango wood, and has a really interesting pattern. The legs are iron, and are painted black. They complement the beautifully designed table top too a little bit of an industrial feel to the table. It’s available in two sizes, 60x60cm & 80x80cm. Can’t wait to put it to use for our movie-night treats, and our board games at Christmas!

Two-Piece Accent Tray Set

This cute little due is available in a few size variations, and are perfect for bringing a little bit of colour. I’ve been using ours on the coffee table to collect my keys, or jewellery as I take it off at the end of the day, and also stand my favourite candle on, as the bottom of the trays is covered in a protective fabric. I think I’ll invest in a few more in different sizes when Christmas comes around!
