Bedside tables are something we can get really creative with if we put our minds to it. A great tool for expressing your creativity and style, it’s a quick and easy way to go for something a little different. When it comes to decorating our homes, we all want to make sure we’re investing a little bit of ourselves and our own personal styles & taste into each room.
There are definitely a lot of things we feel like we ‘have’ to include in our homes: the things that everyone seem to have, and that just seem ‘normal’. I think bedside tables are definitely an example of this but there are definitely lots of those norms that are just waiting to be broken!
So when we recently decided we wanted to think about reviewing our bedroom decor, I knew a bedside table alternatives were something that I knew we needed to find to inject some individuality to the room, and make it feel a little bit like it was all ours.
Pinterest is a great place to look for ideas for projects like this; there are so many creative and imaginative DIYers and interior designers who dream up some of the most brilliant bedside table alternatives ideas, so it was my first port of call. You can check out my full Pinterest board for bedside table alternatives here, but for now, here are some of my favourites I found on my search for the perfect alternatives
For Smaller Spaces:
a stool or chair
A great way to utilise those spare chairs and stools that you need to have around the place for those unexpected dinner guests.
Again, these are a great way to multi-use something that would otherwise need an alternative home. By piling your favourite books by your bedside, you’ll be saving space, saving money and you’ll always have some bedside reading to hand! Perfect, no?
If you’re a bit of a maximum-ist, and like a lot of ‘stuff’ around, this could be for you! Using a basket as a bedside alternative can help store away all the clutter in a much more concise and style way – win/win situation I’d say.
For Minimal Spaces:
I think this option might be one of the options shortlisted for our bedroom! I mainly love that we can chose to utilise the space below the shelf in a number of ways depending on what we need at our bedside, and also because it looks super chic and minimal!
A really unique and minimal way to add a more urban and industrial elements to your bedroom. I think the tough, cold material contrasts perfectly with a warm & cosy bed!
For Making a Bedside Statement:
if you have a little space to spare in the bedroom, then suitcases is a really great option for flexing your expression at your bedside. As well as the stylish look, it also make the height and look of the ‘bedside table’ interchangeable, so that you can easily switch things up from time to time.
This would be a beautiful addition to any bedroom that needs a little bit of texture and warmth added to it’s decor. Another idea for making a statement, this is a really great idea for an economical bedside alternative!
