Well, I for one am freakin’ DELIGHTED to see the back of January. The majority of the month I was skint and cold, and I am SO over it! There are some things I enjoyed though, and I wanted to share them with you all…you lucky lot!
The first favourite for January was a little unexpected, I have to say. I’ve not been a huge fan of Lord and Berry in the past, but after being sent their new cream Contour and Blush, I fell a little in love with them! Because of the hideous dry-cold weather we’ve had up North, my skin is super dry and irritated, so this cream formula was a life saver! I’m not a big user of cream products, but this stuff has me converted! The shades were beautiful, and so easy to blend out to give the perfect flush!
My next favourite of the month is a book, and boy did I love it! Little Black Book – A Toolkit for Working Women by Otegha Uwaba is an absolute breath of fresh air in the sea of self-help books that are circulating at the moment. Her points are so frank and true, and her advice is down-to-earth and completely relatable to a young creative like me. If you think you;ve lost your way a little with you career, I couldn’t recommend this book more! It’s a quick read and only about £5 – perfection!
Back to beauty, and I couldn’t go any further with this post without mentioning the Eve Lom Tinted Moisturiser! I picked this one up from TK Maxx, so I don’t have a direct link for it, but Space NK always have the best of their range! I already love Eve Lom Skincare and my highlighting pen, so I knew this would be amazing. I was definitely not wrong! As I mentioned earlier, the weather is being an absolute bitch to my skin, so I was on the hunt for a moisturiser that would have a medium coverage but would still be moisturising and kind to my skin. Well, I hit the nail completely on the head with this one! The blend-ability is amazing, as you;d expect with an hydrating base-product, but I was completely blown away with the longevity and evenness of the finish! The only thing I regret is that I didn’t buy more than one!
Speaking of skin-rescuing products, the Embyolisse Lait Creme and Creme Riche have been complete dry-skin saviours this last month! I heard about Embryolisse years ago from my hours spent watching Lisa Eldridge on YouTube. She’s a big fan of this French brand and I can definitely agree with her praise! I have been using the Lait Creme on a daily basis, missing only a couple of days, and I can definitely tell the difference in my skin when I forget it! It’s been the most perfect base for my daily makeup, and has completely obliterated the tightness I usually feel in my facial skin in winter – honestly, if you haven’t given this brand a whirl yet, I suggest you do! I’ve been using the thinker Creme Riche creme on my forearms and elbows and again, it has worked miracles for my cracked skin. I always catch myself touching my arms without even noticing – they’re just so bloomin’ soft!
Now for an old faithful that I’ve probably mentioned one too many times now… but I just haven’t found a product that stands up to it! I am of course talking about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder – all hail! It’s just so perfect for setting your face for the day without caking up and looking chalky! It gives your skin such a beautiful luminosity without being OTT – it’s just the best! Like I said, I am yet to find anything even close to how good this is!
I’m in love with Glossier as a brand, and love so many of the things I’ve tried from them so far, but my stand outs will probably always be the Glossier Boy Brow and Stretch Concealer (get 10% first purchase with this link)! The Stretch Concealer is just perfect for drier skin, as it’s a lot more hydrating than my other concealer favourite, the Nars matte concealer. I use this daily as under-eye coverage and it never does me wrong! I do hae to set it to make sure it;s there for a whole work day, but I guess that;s the case with most concealers and gives me a bit more assurance. And then there’s Boy Brow – bae! Since dying my hair a lot lighter, I struggled to find suitable brow products, but the blonde shade of Boy Brow is perfect for me. The product itself also has amazing staying power and keeps my brows in place all day without fail. It’s not crunchy or overly-dry like a few brow products I’ve tried. I know it;s something I’ll be repurchasing for a long time to come!
