my skincare & haircare travel essentials

A few
years ago, if you asked me what ‘toiletries’ (the catch-all term for anything
that usually lives in the bathroom) I took on my travels, I’d give you a list
of generic, Superdrug-style ‘miniatures’. It’s only over the last, say, 5 years
that I’ve really become obsessed with looking after my skin, and nothing – not
even travelling – is going to stop me looking after my skin and hair thoroughly and

There is
no reason why travelling must mean your usual routine goes completely to pot.
Yes, you might need to de-pot your favourites into smaller containers in order
to fit it all in your luggage, but the change in environments and climates, plane air-con and even difference in the water can cause havoc on your
skin. So. What better way to combat them all by having your ride-or-die, tried
and tested goodies by your side. I for one will NOT be skimping on the skin and
hair care whenever I’m travelling!

As I write this, I’ve just returned from Sunny Berlin, and you betya’ bottom dollar
that I’ve lugged ALL of my faves along with me! While packing, I got the idea
of sharing my travelling essentials with you, so you can see just how much I
mean business!

Skincare Routine:

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Cleansing Oil

I’ve said
it before, but I really am trying to look after my skin more now that I’m just
a couple of months away from the big 3-0! This super luxurious feeling
cleansing oil is packed with Vitamin C, which is a perfect anti-aging and
brightening ingredient. I’ll be using this every other morning when I’m
travelling, to help combat those plane rides and long nights! A girls gotta get
her lit-from-within glow somehow!

Some of
the amazing ingredients in this powerful but gentle cleanser include: Olive,
Grapeseed and Rosehip oils, Rosemary oil, Vitamin E and soothing Cucumber oil

Fresh Seaberry Skin Nutrition Booster

After a
good cleanse to wake me up, I like to use a good, natural serum to help me stay
hydrated – and this beauty from Fresh skincare does just that! I am such a
massive fan of natural skincare lately, and love every single ingredient! It
includes tomato extract to help protect against free-radical damage, camelia
seed oil to help retain moisture the amazing seaberry oil act as natural
antioxidants! It’s gentle but powerful and is suitable for all skin types. I
honestly wish I could just bathe in this stuff!

I love to
add it in with my daily moisturiser, which is the…

Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Hyaluronic Cloud Cream

Okay, so
not to be too dramatic, but this moisturiser is THE best I have ever tried in
my life! As the great goddess of skincare, Caroline Hirons, taught me – your
skin is 70% water, and 30-40% of that is in the first layer! When I was suffering
a while back with my foundation becoming patchy throughout the day, it turns
out it’s because my skin was sucking out the water from my makeup in the areas
it was most dry, and leaving the pigment behind!

I was sent
this moisturiser a while back, having hear great things about Peter Thomas
Roth, but could never have imagined it would be so amazing for my skin. It’s so
light (not creamy, like usual moisturisers) and sinks into the skin so quickly.
My skin feels plumped and juicy all day, and my make-up sits 1000% times better
when I apply this beforehand.

Skincare Routine:

Indeed Labs Retinol Reface Retinol Skin Resurfacer Serum

washing my face lightly in a bath or shower, I love to make use of being out of
the sun by using a retinol. Retinol is the single best anti-aging ingredient on
the market and works by resurfacing the skin, and after trying out The
Ordinary’s, I was hooked! I was sent this retinol by Indeed labs a while ago
and if I’m honest, wasn’t as excited about it as I should have been! Now it’s
my go-to retinol that I have to use at least 3 times a week! I haven’t used
another retinol for weeks, and I can’t see that changing any time soon. This
one is DEFINITELY coming on my jollies with me!

Burts Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream

fave of mine that is really rich in natural ingredients, and is a really treat
for the face to help rehydrate while you sleep. As I mentioned before,
dehydration is a big issue for my skin so this is a perfect solution to a
rehydrating reset over night! My skin always feels super soft and supple when I
wake up the next day, and it isn’t so think that is causes any pore blockages
or white-heads! It’s perfect to use with the…

Vitage Illuminating Tanning Drops

I don’t
think I’m alone when I say wearing foundation on holiday can be one of the most
irritating feelings in the world! But at the same time, I hate always having an
uneven skin tone, and general paleness!

trying out this tanning drops from Vitage, mixed with the Burt’s night cream, I
think I’ve found my perfect solutions! Tanning my face means that my skin tone
is more even and a lot more healthy looking, and having the option to mix them
into whatever moisturiser I’m using at the time is a massive bonus for me! The
drops are infused with Vitamin E and a blend of DHAs to make sure you’re
getting an adding benefit for your skin too! I use these every few days to keep
my facial tan topped up!

Neom Perfect Night’s Sleep Pillow Mist

I’m a bit
of a rubbish sleeper to start with, but being in a strange bed in a room I’m
not used to can sometimes through my sleep routine to a right spin! I
discovered this drops after being sent the recent travel miniatures collection
from Neom, and I am so impressed with how calm and relaxed I feel using them after
a hot bath and night-time wind down! I’ll be making sure to bring them along
with me where ever we go now!

Rita Hazan- True Colour Shampoo & Conditioner

I have to
admit, the fact that I was trying hair care made by Beyonce’s colourist totally
impressed me – but I had to put that aside an judge this combo on it’s real
merits! And I can safely say – I am OBSESSED with it! I’ve used cleansing
shampoos before and been so disappointed by how stripped they left my hair, but
not this one! It includes moringa seed extract, which helps to clean the hair
without stripping it. I really feel like the build up is gone but my hair
hasn’t been compromised in the process!

conditioner is also dreamy! It’s infused with Japanese Camelia Oil, which
seemingly is the magic ingredient making it feel so soft after using it! Most
conditioners I’ve used to get silky lock often weigh it down and make it become
really greasy really quickly, but using this conditioner I feel like my hair
feels just-washed for 2 days minimum! For an added bonus, it also has UV
protection that is essential for sunnier climates! And the best bit, neither
have any parabens – a MASSIVE plus for me!

Davines – MINU Illuminating & Regenerating Mask

A good
shampoo and conditioner is a must, but when I’m travelling, I sometimes get
into a horrible habit of re-straightening or re-curling my hair a lot for some
weird reason! So, because it’s being exposed to more heat from tools than
usual, I always take along a good hair mask, in an attempt to say sorry to my
poor hair and hope it forgives me!

I’ve been trying this mask from Davines, and I am falling head over heels every
time it graces my head! I’ve been sent a few bit from Davines that are all
amazing, so I’ll be doing a more thorough review soon, but for now, just know
that this stuff is the bees knees, and I want an eternal supply of it! It’s
thick, smells amazing, and works wonders for coloured, dried out hair. An
absolute kiss of life to my locks!
