the best of berlin

After nearly 3 years without a proper holiday, we finally booked a great holiday in Berlin! I love the thought of a relaxing beach holiday, but in reality I know I’d quickly get bored, so we were on the hunt for the perfect city holiday – and Berlin was exactly that!

It’s a buzzing city, FULL to the brim with stuff to do and see! The underground & overground trains, along with the trams make it super easy to get to any part of the city fairly quickly – so there’s no excuse for not seeing as much as you can squeeze in!

We were in Berlin for 6 days (5 full, and 2 half days) and we only saw a small fraction of what the city had to offer – but boy did we pack those days as full as possible! Make sure to pack your walking shoes as well as your glad rags when travelling to a city as full as this one! When I was thinking about the best way to present this post & some of our photos, I decided the best way was to sub-catagorise everything we did, and give you top 3 of each!

House of Small Wonder – the cutest, most instagrammable cafe in Berlin! Great brunch and lunches!

Nikolaiviertel, Riverside – full of beautiful restaurants and bars back to back. With traditional and more modern dishes, there’s definitely something for everyone, every night!

Hackescher Markt – just a minutes walk from the tram, we found the most amazing food square. We had some amazing pizza and drinks here, but there was a lot more around to chose from!

Tourist Attractions

Bauhaus Archiv – A small but perfect homage to Bauhaus! If you love mid-century interiors and decor you will love this place!

Reichstag – The Reichstag building with the famous glass dome is one of the most
frequently visited sights in Berlin. It is seat of the German
parliament, the Bundestag. Very beautiful, with lots of great places to eat around!

Berlin Zoo – a great place for a sunny day outing. ..And they have Pandas!

Alexanderplatz – East Berlin’s centre, it’s full of shopping, cinemas and good food! You also get a great view of the TV Tower from the centre square!

Museuminsel (Museum Island) – Berlin’s best museums all in one place!

Potsdam – A beautiful town just outside of Berlin, and easily accessible by train. It has a real old-town feel, beautiful lake and palaces…lots of them! We visited on our last day and it was the most relaxing end to a great holiday!
